The Summer Of ‘17
Our precious Angel Cody, we look to the Summer of ’17;
Those waning months of your lifetime, and how ill you must have been!
But like a soldier you fought so bravely, for every single day;
Till the last when you lost your battle, and you had to float away!
.
It started with your weight loss, a little more each week;
And your appetite was ebbing, no more it’s former peak!
Your stride was slow and cumbersome, no more bouncing with each step;
Sometimes you’d want us to carry you, running quickly out of pep!
.
You were sleeping many hours, for most the day and night;
But still we kept on praying, that you’d regain your former might!
Each week the end was nearing, but our denials shadowed all;
We loved you so very dearly, we could never make that call!
.
But on Thursday, you hardly ate much, and slept away the day;
On Friday you ate nothing, as you began to slip away!
In the wee hours of Saturday morning, I laid down near to your side;
You slept so soundly as I stroked you, and a million tears I cried!
.
When Mommy took you out to potty, you stumbled and you fell;
The time was sadly on us, to deliver you from Hell!
You took your final bye-bye, as our wracking sobs filled the air;
That horrid morning when you were with us, and all at once no longer there!
.
.

Dear John,
Give your four year old Bichon a hug from us too. What is his/her name? We'd love to see a photograph.
We used to have a sign on our golf cart that read, "Our Bichon is smarter than your Honor Student".
Love,
Linda and Larry xxx
Hi Larry
I've put a pic of Mitch as my profile pic, almost a year to the day I wrote my first poem... Called " Our Mitch"
Take care
John
