The Sweetest Cookie In The World

Our hearts and Souls are reeling, with emotions from the past;
Never dreaming what I’m about to tell you, would happen so very fast!
Yesterday, just to see what was available, we checked out a local rescue site;
Unbelievably, there was a gorgeous puppy, that had a saddened plight!

For her owners had decided, that with a new baby on the way;
She’d be too much for them to handle, so they brought her to the shelter one day!
Our hearts melted when we saw her photo, they raced to see if she still was there;
The site said she was available, so to the shelter, did we tear!

They did not open until twelve p.m., we got there at eleven;
Wanting no one else to rescue her, our gift sent straight from heaven!
Thank God, we got there early, and were customer number one;
Because seven people came to buy her, but we beat them to the gun!

One kiss from her was all it took, she’s “The Sweetest Cookie In The World”;
We sat on the floor and held her, as our saddened Souls unfurled!
We signed the papers quickly, we had found our new true love;
Convinced Nico and Cody had guided us, from Paradise up above!

We took her straight to Petco, bought some supplies that she will use;
We brought her home to our apartment, she’s getting used to her new views!
We’re all making some adjustments, learning how with each to live;
She loves to hold and cuddle, a million kisses to us give!

This morning, we opened up a storage box, with old toys and Cody’s bed;
She ran and jumped right in it, “unbelievable”, we both said!
We’re both sitting here in amazement, how quickly our lives have changed;
Our tears have turned to ecstasy, Cookie, our lives has rearranged!
