The Tale of a Heart that wouldn't Heal

The Tale of a Heart that wouldn't Heal

Once someone put a hole on my heart,
I patched with cotton wool but it didn’t last,
It was too soft and the tears ran right through it

Once someone put a hole on my heart,
I patched with wood but the fire burned fiercely
In the depth of its core, and the patch became ashes

Once someone put a hole on my heart,
I patched with stone and it was all right for a while,
but the heart got tired of missing out the melodies and one day grew cold

Once someone put a hole on my heart,
                                             I patched with vengeance,
and it got dissolved with the bitter taste of the acid

Once someone put a hole on my heart,
this time I patched with forgiveness
but the hole didn’t close because the wound wouldn’t heal

Once someone put a hole on my heart,
I finally healed it with understanding and self-love.
In my old age my heart still beats strong.
