THE TOWN CAT

This little tale is written about the town cat 
A friendly little fellow you really must pat 
His fur is black with just a touch of white
Gets up to mischief both day and night 

I'm not so sure if the town cat has a proper name
Has appeared on television to national fame
Who does he belong to nobody actually knows 
His visit around town is where this cat goes 

The town cat appeals to both the young and old
Many stories about him are both written and told
I recall the time he was stuck in a tree one day 
Using one of his nine lives really came into play
