The Truth

The Truth

The Truth

The truth lies nailed to a wooden cross
But have we gained anything by his loss

A faith that grew from a sacred heart
Meant to bring us together, not drive us apart

Over shifting sands through desert heat
With the wisdom to save us from our own defeat

And though he left his footprints in the sand
Made no claim of ownership upon the land

Walked on water, rose above his pride
Unleashed wild horses so together we could ride

His eyes were witness to a fourth-coming dream
Parted the veil hiding a truth yet unseen

He traveled with his followers and his friends
And only one betrayed him in the end

In death he has become a cornerstone
To a temple where the lost can find a home

The flicker of millions of candle flames
Burn eternally in remembrance of his name

He shall return to us again someday
For we have already lighted his way
