The View From My Window

The view from my window,
it’s beautiful, in fact.
Oh, the view from my window is beautiful,
even though it’s cracked.
I look out at the world, 
so colorful and vivid.
But it’s also quite dull and grey,
so extremely livid.
But through my cracked window, 
I stare at a mirror.
I see a monster looking back at me,
no way I could see it clearer. 
This monster wears a smile,
but has a hidden frown.
The view of this monsters’ life,
is completely upside down.
And from this point of view,
you see a great sense of dread.
When the monster wakes up from sleep,
they can’t get out of bed.
They stay in bed for days on end, watching time pass,
they don’t want to move a single muscle, never going to class.
As a result of this, the monster knows,
that it will do no good.
So they retreat into their sweatshirt,
and put on the hood.
The monster doesn’t like it,
when people come near.
Because when they were just a child,
people would run away in fear.
Oh, this monster stares back at me,
its face filled with trepidation.
Then the monster goes on its way,
pondering its creation.
I see this monster everywhere,
day in and day out.
Every time I look at a reflection,
whenever I’m out and about.
I, too, am scared of this monster,
that lives deep down inside.
And I’ve tried to avoid it,
I’ve tried and tried and tried.
But never, oh never,
does this monster go away.
But the view from my window,
still remains so grey.
