THE VOICE OF LONELINESS

WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS
AND SILENCE HUMMS
MY MIND SEEKS A QUIET PLACE
TO HIDE ITS THOUGHTS

BUT MY HEART  ACHES
AS I LAY  IN MY BED
I AM TORTURED CONTINUOUSLY
BY THE VOICE OF LONELINESS
TAP DANCING IN MY HEAD

WHERE ARE THE ARMS
THAT SHOULD BE HOLDING YOU
AND THE EYES OF  FIRE AND LIGHT
TO LOOK INTO

ANOTHER LONELY NIGHT
WITHOUT  A SMILE OR A KISS
AND NO THOUGHTS OF LOVE
TO REMINISCE

THE VOICE OF LONELINESS
MY ONLY FRIEND
KEEPING ME COMPANY
UNTIL THE NEW DAY BEGINS.

WILFORD BARKER.

Wonderful personification of loneliness. Loved the line “tap dancing in my head” I think you captured the sensation loneliness brings us perfectly here x
