The Waterfall
We set off clad in all
the year´s gloom and black,
heavy hearts hidden
in cheer and pride,
cognac and dried fruit in a pack.
The rough wind teased
our hair and minds in
every broken place,
where we made our way
to where she descends
in beauty, power and grace.
Bearing fresh, tumbling
torrents of life,
the scent of wildflowers
soothed our scars,
made merry our aches and pains
and sweetened our
mind´s bitter rain,
a crystal princess of
vitality and light,
she flowed pure through
our bones and veins.
Her white silken robes
fall about her beauty,
and within her gentle tempest
lay all the smiles of sunlight,
behind a veil of mistÂ
of rushing white and flowing life,
for the hawk and the dove
poured from rivers and
clouds above.
Flowering the barren
bitter earth,
life giving vein of hope
and all it´s worth.
Then the onset of dusk shadows
played over the mountain peaks
in the winter chill,
our red rose, glowing hearts
turned for home,
but her beauty remains still.
