The Wiggly Worm

The lean, long, lanky worm wriggly and brown
Pushes hiself up through the earth then slides slowly back down
His rottenness is repulsive, he makes us squirm
yet he is a squashiness of squishiness that great garden worm

He hasn’t any limbs nor has he eyes to see but he knows where he is going so cleverly
Inching along bit by bit breaking down the organic matter in our soil pit
That little skinny slender creature is serviceable in our soil
He is our dear old friend with his helpful toil

So the next time you are in your garden digging up the earth and you come upon a snakey worm let him zigzag with all his worth
Yes he may look grotesque as he glides along but I am telling you as a matter of that icky worm isn’t wrong

Where there is a wiggly worm there will be good, clean condtions
with his invaluable eating habits creating fertilizer dispositions
So I am telling you once and for all
Leave that winding worm well alone
Just turn a blind eye to his ugliness and let him live til’ fully-grown
