The Winner in Me

For so long, my vision has been blurry,
A cloak of darkness, 
With fitful clouds of fury.
Blindly living each and every day,
Waiting and praying for God to make a way.
For me to push through, to get through
This thing called life,
All the while, feeling impossibly undue.
Suddenly.. a clap of thunder changed everything,
It spoke to me, asking what do you bring?
Materialism has never been my thing,
Nor has a one night stand or a brief fling.
What I bring is faithfulness and loyalty,
A kind of love that would make any man feel like royalty.
Again it spoke, But is that all, what about you?
When was the last time you soul-searched?
When was the last time you were TRUE?
I cannot answer that, for I do not know,
My motivation and drive have been at an all time low. 
For so many years, I could not see so clear,
My eyes were hidden, I was cloaked in fear,
A wretch, I guess, because I wanted you near,
But now this thunder has put my fear in the rear.
I can see clearly now that the clouds have passed,
I lost sight.. forgetting my essence,
But now.. now my strengths have amassed.
I forgot who I was, I forgot I was a winner,
I will proclaim from this point on, I am no longer a condemner. 
What lay stagnant inside me for so very long,
Has arisen, has awoken, now I sing this song: 
Victory! Victory! Will be mine for the taking,
I will never give up, I will never be forsaken.
I will take what's mine, from here on out, 
Because I am a Winner, that's without a doubt.
