Test of Time

Test of Time

At times, I feel so numb,
Like a suspect frozen by a gun,
Like a deer caught in headlights,
Stuck, but still wanting to put up a fight.

I look to my left, I look to my right,
Nothing but air.. no one in sight.
Where are they when you need them the most,
That's easy.. they disappear like ghosts.

But it really doesn't matter; all I need is me,
I pronounce it loudly, I pronounce it with glee.
Me and my family, we will be just fine,
Like a rich glass of wine, it only gets better with time.

Who needs spectators, when you're living your life,
We just keep it moving, no time for the knife.
In the back that is, because we all know,
There’s nothing better than giving them a show.

Let them watch, let them talk, let them form their opinions,
Let them stare, let them hate, let them act like minions.
Despite the battles, the struggles, the tests of time,
Throughout it all, you will forever be mine.
