Shallow: one who encompasses little depth...
did you know you were incapable...
Or that you were lacking significant breadth?
What happened to the child.. the hopeful child,
Who was so curious and full of compassion and love?
The one who cherished family and friends...
The one who wanted to elevate above?
Your heart was so kind, your feelings so pure...
You enjoyed the company of all...
You had the strength to endure...
You wanted to live.. to be free.. just to be...
You thought living for self, centralized, would set you free...
You showed strangers more love than your whole family...
You made your way, made time to play...
But everyday, it became more evident
That you pushed people away...
Is having nice clothes, a nice house, a nice car, plentiful vacations...
All you value and see?
What about the world... The souls in need?
To become selfish and heartless
Is a horrible thing...
To not give back to the world 
Is like having a fling...
With the devil in disguise...
All you want is the prize.... And validation of others....
You won't invest in substance...
Because you think you have an abundance...
Of love already surrounding you....
But oh... Just wait! 
They are really not there for You...
Drinks, partying, vacations on the beach...
But when it comes down to it...
You really can't take the heat.... Nor compete...
So ask yourself, is it really all worth it...
To have fun and live it up....
If you don't know how to split it....
Your time, that is, between having fun 
And adding value to the world...
Have you inspired....
Have you desired...
To become a better person...
To give and not take, I pray for your sake....
That it will not worsen...
Your outlook on life... 
Will it cause you more strife...in the long run?
I challenge you to look deep...
Examine your worth, your purpose...
Look very steep-ly
Into your soul...
Somewhere in that black hole...
You may find the answer...
But until then, my friend...
You'll be hanging from a limb....
Believing you're Living...
But you are not...
You're really not Winning...
Until you stop being materialistic...
And enter the realm of realistic.
So remember these words:
Love without condition...
Talk without bad intention...
Care without expectation...
Give without reason...
For your high may be only...
For a very short season.
