Poem -
The Wrath of Winter
Cold the talon stars
upon the hills that brood,
wild the warrior wind that wields
the hard edged swords of ice
that clash with scimitar moon.
Melancholy are the sounds
that haunt the night´s black depth,
the owl´s mournful lament
upon the wind´s tortured breath.
The old tree´s roots grasp the earth
leaves hanging, dead and dry,
brittle upon the branch that clings
to the sheer, icy sky.
Silent falls the snow,
in which grieving birds sing,
to sweeten the bitter earth
and lay gentle flowers for Spring.
