Poem -

Is there a God?

Is there a God?

Is there a God
Can someone help
Decide whether I kneel
Before God
Or whether
I argue against God
As my blood red
And my limbs worn, trouble
As I lay here in my bed
And grapple with the suffering
Sick with pain and agony
With the battle raging inside
Through this window clear
I can see the trees and sky
And a man goes by
On one foot
Hobble hobble
As a bird lays flightless on
The ground
And the screams of a child,
As the war rages on and on
And on
Killing life,
As the sky turns dark
And thunder frightens the dog,
As tears begin to flow
I ask
Is there a God?

Jai!  I know that many ask this question. The answer is personal…no one can decide for an individual.  It is a simple choice anyway…a yes or no.  Believe or not…what matters is that HE believes the choice that each individual makes.   As for me and my house, I know that HE is and that HE is a rewarder of those who diligently seek HIM.  Excellent write!

..and while man may say against God, 'there is no God' & 'I hate Him', God responds,'There is a YOU, and I love you.'

Very nice poem :) I feel that the question of God's existence should be left up to the philosophers, and theologians. They can decide what they believe. I feel, however, that totally apart from the reality of God's existence (which I personally find more real than even myself) the question should be,"Is God real in my life?" We will never know concretely if God is, since He is by definition, God, and therefore outside of the physical realm, science, which is a way to measure the physical world, falls short of being adequate to argue for OR against God. Is God, amidst the suffering, real, in your life? Then you will have entered faith in the most profound sense.

I love this, great write perfectly captures the war waging in the hearts and minds of many agnostics; young, old wise and naive!

Brilliant!

so sad a childs view on wars and God  ,something they shouldn't have to see or  lose faith in God because of it. even adults question the faith at times ,how can he let this happen. but for a child  its a longer struggle to  believe wholeheartedly with these things around.
                                                                             Good honest piece Jai!

You are truly a master at poetry Jai.  I love the above usage of alliteration and the technique is so solid that I grow with envy everytime I read one of your poems.  As to the existence of God, that's for you to decide, but just let me say...that I pray and pray often and sometimes it goes unheard and other times, well life turns to a bloody hell and then heaven comes...so who knows right.  Be good and be good of heart and you can be your own Angel in it's discourse.  Wonderful poem and beautiful content.

Youssef like Jai is a holy name

We are One;

The meaning of the name Jai is Victory

The origin of the name Jai is Indian (Sanskrit)

:) sleep in the dream of knowing

i am dreaming of the holy one who

created you and I.

Thanks Jai! The name is Hebrew, from the Old Testament. It means 'to add to', 'to increase', or 'to fortify' all in regards to the kingdom of God. I sure hope I can live up to my name! Just out of curiosity, what does Jai mean?
(Ps: My poetry is very negative and revolves around death, with intense philosophical undertones, and most b people, while they tell me it's decent poetry, tell me they would rather not read more of it! It is very heavy and unpleasant... But for curiosity's sake, what did you think?)
