They owned the night

They owned the night

She was a dancer; for his eyes only
He was a poet; with her inspiration
They entered the night, lost in a song
 Finding rhapsody in their own footsteps
.
Hand in hand, outside the all night cinema
Merging with the crowd of indifferent eyes;
 Bustling, never knowing, the sight of rubies
 Or the shine of diamonds they carried inside
.
Under incandescent lights yellow and dim
They moved together like a regal aberration
Cars parked along the road, Second hand
 Bookstores shielding their alleyway lovers
.
But they own the night; the music and laughter;
Aromas of roasting fish and sweet boiling corn
 While the music-man cries out a Spanish love song;
 His passionate glances cause her a troubling blush

Hey sister, appreciate your kind words, I was in this city called Edmonton last year and was thinking about some of the cool places on my favorite street down there, yeah the phrase 'we own the night' was rattling around in my head...saw the whole thing and just wrote it down, l love when that happens, I can just sit back and enjoy...lots of fun to right a poem like this...and coming from far and away the best story teller on this site, I value your comment and opinion about me being a good story teller; I'm here to learn how to write better poetry first and foremost Cherie, your comments are like gold medallions to me, and I thank you for that....cheers and have a good evening

That's right, Whyte avenue, I could not for the life of me remember the name of that darn street....no crazy magpies, great noodle house, Mexican restaurant, excellent Irish Pub and lots of second hand book stores, that may be my favorite street....ttyl, thanks for encouragement...keep the faith
