Poem -

THEY'RE WITH YOU

THEY'RE WITH YOU

They’re with you; can you feel them

In the night time; there they lie

These visions that elude you

But silently pass by

They appear without a reason

Disappear; can’t focus on

A feeling that you’re being watched

You turn but then they’re gone

It’s a presence that you feel

Foreboding?  Don’t think so

More a sense of watching

Feeling that they know

Kind of like an angel

But not peaceful, not sure why

Wanting you to know they’re there

Don’t speak; don’t even try

The silence it is haunting

And the feeling is intense

Just for one split second

Then you question your sixth sense

Have you ever felt that moment

On your own within a room

Doing something random

Then you feel a presence loom

It’s weird; but then you turn

What the hell is wrong with you?

Your mind is going loopy

What did all that good living do?

Must have pickled all your brain cells

You’re tired; need your sleep

Even those within religion

Their faith would take some leap

So you carry on regardless

Forget all your stupid thoughts

Life continues normally

‘Til once again you feel that force

It’s strange and most disturbing

Could have sworn it was the cat

But the cat is in the other room

Playing on the mat

So you keep it to yourself

Make no mention of this ‘thing’

Bury in your crazy mind

Out; don’t ever bring

But they’re with you; and you know that

In the night time; where they lie

These visions don’t elude you

Never pass you by

Don’t appear without a reason

They’re there when you need peace

They’re always out there watching you

Their souls will never cease

Cos they’re kind of like an angel

But not restful, this is true

They want you to have missed them

They’re your loved ones who miss you ........

Thanks Susan, what a lovely comment, and you picked up on a lot of things that I hadn't even thought of.  For me it was about, how sometimes you can be at home and you feel a presence in some way but no one is there, or a notion of someone passing by but you're alone.  The end was to suggest that those watching constantly, that cannot rest, are the loved ones you have known in your life that stay around you.

Appreciate you reading and taking the time!  Thanks Susan :)
