Things on my mind
A man who has prioritised his cultural stoicism
And bravado to the exclusion of actual substance.
What a shame it is for a man to feel pain?
A piano teacher having her second child.
You hear the swear that she never said;
'Rory, this is the last fucking one!'
A dad buying his son drinks. The mum upset if the
son takes a sip.
More the passion of a younger man the record will
show.
A blessing in disguise one finds
You can't read people's minds.

I find the power that the young boy seems to be the piggy in the middle at home and the piano teacher flogging a dead horse, not kind language but needed to emote the moment, a young boy lost because no one is asking what he would like or not, your last lines tell me a people pleaser sometimes has to please themselves. A wonderfully emotional poem, with incredible scenes , brings me back to my own childhood. 🌹 I too tried the piano it was only the once 🤣
