Thinking Twice

Thinking Twice

Shut your mouth, don't say
A word. You're a long way
From home, no point in
Screaming for help. Listen,
I won't hurt you if you obey.
Hey! Can you not hear what I say?
Shut your mouth. I said quiet!
You know, I really do find it
Annoying when you don't
Listen to me. I won't
Let you go until you fucking
Listen and shut up! Legs buckling
From the sheer weight of this
Intimidation. Lost in the mist.
I shook my head only to wake
To be sitting above a frozen lake
On top of a bridge, legs hanging,
Shaking. Dragging
Out my last few breaths. I check
My phone one last time before I wreck
The ice. I check my latest poem and
See the views, the comments, I can't
Just leave this behind. I'm not alone.
Fuck it, I'm going home.
