Thoughts of a Simple Woman

Just gazing rather blankly
at life through my jaded ย eyes,
and feeling ,well...quite frankly
nothings left to rhapsodize
My thoughts turn all to easily
to subjects incomplex,
how roses smell through laden dew
and turtles having sex
Why bottled glue pours easily
and doesnโt stick the pot,
I want to think of simple things
and not a Gordian knot
Things like the smell of ย asphalt
after there has been some rain,
and how the smell of babiesย heads
will make you sniff again
To share a smile with strangers,
finding shapes within a cloud,
confide ย a whispered secret
and never speak it loud
To sing with gusto in the shower,
walk on grass with just bare feet,
climb into bed each night and
love those freshly laundered sheets
Life should be filled with wondrous things,
those ย pleasures we all yearn,
so for a while my simple thoughts
to simpler things will turn.

You're awesome. That was fantastic! (the turtles...ummmm...fornicating concerns me a little, but I did actually see that once in a zoo here in NY...but I try not to think about it). But anyway, I love the way you painted a picture of those wonderful, simple things. It's funny, too, just yesterday I was driving home from the casino, and there were so many beautiful clouds that I was able to find oodles of shapes in them(one looked like a snail. Another like a man's head yelling, another like a dragon, and one like an unmentionable private part). I love clouds.ย
And I really loved that poem!ย
