Three Cheers For Meryl Streep
I watched last night from Hollywood, the Golden Globe Awards;
Several of our finest actors, said “Trump” they do abhor!
The one who did it best though, was our precious Meryl Streep;
She told of his mocking a handicapped man, and said Trump was a real creep!
She described as an embarrassment, a man who has no class;
And instead of being in his head, his brains are in his ass!
It took lots of guts to do this, for Trump’s a vindictive man;
I fear he’ll try to get back at her, in any way he can!
I agree with all she said last night, and to think that in two weeks;
This low life will be our President, but to the future I’ve just peeked!
I’m seeing an impeachment, when the “true him” comes to light;
For so many fine Americans, can’t stand his ugly sight!
Your pal Putin can’t help you this time, you’re going down for the full count;
Your billions cannot save you, no matter what is the amount!
I pray this happens quickly, before too much damage do you do;
I can not wait for that most sunny morning, when we all bid to you Adieu!

As you say here, Larry..."Trump's a vindictive man". He also reads everything online. So, if I were you, I'd be just as worried about myself as Meryl Streep!!
That said, your poem is funny, pointed, with a sprightly rhythm with belies the very real sense of disquiet, fear and anger at its heart.
Not for nothing, my friend; we both know that the US is too great a nation to be bowed, bent or broken by any one man...even if he is a vindictive little piss-ant with more power than sense!!

I'll take my chances, because as they say, "the pen is mightier than the sword". How it came to this I will never understand. It's actually embarrassing to be an American right now, because the world thinks we've lost our minds. That is, except for Russia, whom Trump has right where they want him. We, the people with more common sense than to vote for this narcissistic ego maniac, are all holding our breaths. By the way, your description of him is spot on!

We obviously haven't learned our lessons well this far into our lives and for the well being of The United States of America...

You hit it right on the head. So sad to see our great nation on the brink of possible destruction by Trump and his puppet master Putin. We have to pray that our country is stronger than what the two of them have planned. I have such empathy for those people who voted for him because they believed his promises about jobs etc. When they see that he was lying they will be devastated. Thank you for your astute words.

I still in shock. Never has our democracy been in such danger since the Civil War. And to think it was only a few years ago when Putin invaded the Crimean that the same Repugnuts that sing his praises were calling for US military intervention.
Larry, it must be a generation thing. But considering that you an I are from the generation of duck & cover, I can't believe we allowed a nation that has more then a billion mega tons of nuclear war heads pointed at us, to determine our election. I can't help but worry if the next thing to be hacked is our early warning system.
This is insanity.

I have told so many of my Democratic friends about my Cosmo friends, from all over the world, who abhor Trump too. How this ever happened in our country, when Hillary got over three million more popular votes, but somehow still lost the election is still a mystery to me. Can you imagine if the shoe was on the other foot, and Trump had gotten three million more votes, how he would have been unconsedeing and never accepted the results? In ten days, this country sinks to a new low, as this monster takes the oath of office. God help us.

Larry, this is a terrific write, so glad to hear your perspective on what went down on the show....I wrote one on the Meryl Streep speech as well, what a great speech....yes you are right, she didn't pull any punches with her opinion on TRump, neither did Hugh Lorie before her....I found it funny (not as in ha ha, but as in peculiar) that Mr. Trump called her an 'over rated actor' that is beyond weird, it's freakin Meryl Streep!....so you see an impeachment for him huh? we'll see, but he should really stop tweeting every time someone famous says something negative about him, that seems to me to be more juvenile than presidential, just saying....enjoyed your take on the issue, my friend...hugs

I just jumped over to read your lovely words on Meryl Streep and left a comment there. I hadn't heard that he called her "an over rated actor". You are absolutely right that we have a juvenile delinquent who is going to be running our country. What a travesty! It's the first time that my wife and I have been ashamed to be Americans. In the paper today, I saw a photograph of our great President, yesterday giving his farewell speech in Chicago, and he was wiping a tear from his eye. Deep in his heart, I think he knows the chaos that is to come. How in the hell did this ever happen? I thought G.W. Bush was bad, but next to Trump, he's a saint. Thank you for your lovely words.

wonderful write. I watched Meryl on Youtube. She was eloquent and stated her opinion very high classy lady! She is a highly intelligent lady. one of my favorite actresses.
