Three Strikes

You step onto the field excited about the play
Something you've wanted to do day after day
You pick up the bat anticipating the swing
This excitement outweighs everything
You get so high when the ball gets close
Such a big high from just this small dose
You swing the bat with pure determination
Then quickly fill up with a low frustration
Then you hold the bat for another chance
Stepping to the plate and holding your stance
Again you swing the bat with just another fail
Thinking its best if you go ahead and bail
But one more chance to make this win
Loss of confidence is now within
Focused on what will be the last 
Will you hit it or just repeat the past 
You swing again with no hope inside
You bump the ball without any pride
You run to first base with your head held low
Your lack of confidence is starting to show
You made the play and hit the ball
Why are you scared of making a fall
