Three Syllables

Three Syllables

“i love you” she said
it rolled of her tongue effortless
her lips made it look so simple
three words, three syllables

but i stuttered, for i know
those three words are powerful
that it is not that simple
for we have different definitions of the word love

your love is materialistic
the thought of me showering you with gifts
a new purse every week
and following every gift is the same three words
i    love   you

you say it in vain
no meaning to the word
your beautiful blue eyes, now have a green tint
of envy

envious, of the real love that others had
so you fake it
pretend to love
only this show is coming to an end

for i see behind the curtains
behind your eyes
that you are a string away from becoming what you fear

alone

thats how we met
a hazy memory
but one i could not forget

your lips on mine
are hands intertwined
the world was gone
we were alone

or so i thought
this was your plan
try to fall in love
only you were already in love
with the idea of love
