The Void Third

The Void Third

The voids are two-
One of the heart,
Other
Of the mind.
The former, for fulfillment
Seeks only to give,
Lives to serve.
The latter, however is
Selfish.
A Black hole
Giving nothing,
Except for news of
That final destination,
Within oneself.

I despair,
For I carry them both
Dreading the day
The voids collide.
Which one prevails,
Which perishes?
Only known to one;
I am bound in knots of limbo
Within the void third-
Loneliness, a damp
Echoless silence, one
Oblivious to its own
Lifeless existence and
Of the existence within.

The Third void refuses
To reveal.
Alive am I truly or all I do
Is just pretend to be?

Intriguing, harrowing and mesmerising.

This idea of the Third Void...is elusive, puzzling and utterly terrifying.

I'm tempted to quote Nietzsche here; but I've been doing that a lot of late, so I shall refrain.

A genuine pleasure to read...and contemplate, as always.

Shukriya so much again for the lovely, encouraging, and personally insightful reviews on my work. Shukriya also for understanding my third void, which I am living. It is terrifying at times.

And you can quote whomsoever you wish to, that wouldn't bother me. :)

Congratulations, my friend.

So glad to see your elegant and beautiful work recognised in this manner.

When I left that original comment a month ago...I was tempted to quote Nietzsche's musings on 'the abyss'...but refrained. In the light of your recent win; and of your poetry, which I have always enjoyed: another, somewhat more apt line comes to mind...

Art is the proper task of life.

Shukriya so very much Jason! I had no idea of this till I saw the email notification of your comment. It is such an unexpected and truly pleasant surprise! And so apt that I came to know of it from my most encouraging and inspiring reader. I am genuinely humbled by the honour. It is a first of its kind for me in my entire life till now! :)

Art is indeed the proper task of life. And may we forever remain in its sincere and passionate service. Shukriya once again!

maybe the third is the balance of the two combined. The latter has it's finer points and definitely the former, but the third  might bring the peace of mind. It is an insightful poem into your thoughts. Good writing.

Shukriya Leanardo for your insightful review. Sincerely appreciated.
It is the nature of the third as being so subjective that makes it that significant, yet often unrecognized.

aapaka svaagat hai      I googled it :)      and that is true the wonder of it as well the what if, or could be.... If I understood you correctly,   the subjectiveness indeed makes it more significant.

Firstly, please pardon me for having spelt your name wrong in my previous reply Leandro. Secondly, pardon me once again; but actually in Hindi/Urdu, oddly there's no equivalent expression for the 'You're Welcome!' which is said after having been thanked. The nearest word could be 'Afwan' in response to thanks in Arabic 'Shukrn' which has same etymological roots as shukriya. Aap ka swagat hai, means welcoming someone literally when they have arrived some place and are being ushered in.

And you're right about the wonder of subjectivity and the possibility of coincidences it presents! Shukriya again for your time and insights. :)
