Till There Was You

I lost my little Chi-Chi boy, in nineteen sixty four;

I’d had him since I was eight years old, his loss my heartstrings tore!

There were other dogs that came and went, but none I dearly loved;

I got them for my children’s sake, when their pushes came to shove!

But on July 26, two thousand one, a little pup was born;

With the sweetest soul e’er known to man, that God had him adorned!

When he was only twelve weeks old, his breeder had a sale;

To sell the litter from whence he came, three girls and three fine males!

A star like that from “Bethlehem”, then led us to his side;

The most beautiful doggie we’ve ever seen, his Mommy and I cried!

Then we brought him home to start his life, as our sweetest little boy;

For almost fourteen cherished years, he brought us untold joy!

From the first moment that I held him close, I felt our souls unite;

I loved him as I never had, he made my life so right!

Without him now, for near two years, I’ve never felt so blue;

For I never thought I’d love again, until came precious you!
