TIME TO MOVE ON

I remember the days when our vision was a haze
When we breathed in air, that just didn’t care
The birdsong was a distant memory
To younger people it was a story
I remember when our world was so noisy
The sound of silence was a mystery
I remember when we met up with our family
And made contact with a cuddle
The norm was a lot of hustle and bustle
Our news was fake
And business was met with a hand shake
I remember when we were told the world had a virus
This made me furious
Though now I wonder
If a scientist’s blunder
Will bring back humanity
Though at the cost of my sanity
Our air is better
And though poison travelled on a letter
We read enough to learn how to communicate with neighbours
Doing each other favours
Mass showing of our appreciation of others
All standing together
Sisters and brothers
And though we had to spend time apart
Those we love were, and always, will remain in our heart
 God bless our earth
And the birth
Of all what is new
This beautiful view
The clean air
The fish in our rivers
That we thought had long gone
To the choirs that give song
Thinking how it was before, gives me shivers
Swans they swim
For most, the future won’t be grim
We are all in this together
Gliding on the angel’s feather
Keep faith in what is to come
Our maker has spoken
Look to the sun
The earth has been choking
Time to move on

Being Me

Hi Fiona...I am trying to catch up on friend's poems. Having just read this I am so glad I popped across to your page. This has so much depth. It is true that the Virus is awful and the isolation, for a great many, so lonely... but if we were to look for positives among the vast amount of negatives, we  would see how the world has got smaller, people friendlier, wildlife busier, pollution lessened. There is always the positive to be found in a heap of negative. This is such a fabulous poem you have written here, Fiona x

Hi my lovely. Thank you, i have loved the birds during shutdown they are  stunning as if celebrating less objects in the sky and less noise from traffic but for blind people, social distancing and not being allowed to get assistance in shops has been a nightmare for me x

Oh bless you!  It must be a real nightmare for you! I know that if I worked in a shop I would give anyone assistance if they needed it. I hope this virus is sorted out soon and lessons have been learnt so the next pandemic will be easily dealt with.  Virtual coffee and cake and ... Hugs  x

A Lonely Journey

Hi Fiona,
Terrific write, my friend! I always enjoy your writing so much. I wish I could write so nicely, and over four stanzas! You do it so effortlessly. Great wisdom, and sentiment, from a truly wonderful person, and an inspiration.
Stay awesome, OK?
Hugs,
Matthew.

PS. Some great lines in there, including:
'I remember the days when our vision was a haze
When we breathed in air, that just didn’t care'

and
'I remember when our world was so noisy
The sound of silence was a mystery'

and
'Of all what is new
This beautiful view
The clean air
The fish in our rivers
That we thought had long gone
To the choirs that give song'

I really love the way you write, because it shows what a caring, nice, person you are. Great job!!! M.
