TO POET OR NOT TO POET

TO POET OR NOT TO POET

They gnaw at the door with their pointy, daggered teeth
Guttural grumbling from the mindless
Ever hungry for the blank page

The lexical mob, the tattered verbiageΒ
Claw for a place on the blank page
A small appearance on the emptyΒ screen
As usual screaming to be heard

It’s not fair you know
I am hounded by the tattered many
The street urchins of the English language.
The short, the brief the abrupt
Β
The royalty of the language choose another
They wait patiently for placement.
Knowing full well their beauty
Content in the quality of their β€œsaying”

Billowing, blossoming, bulbous
Weighty wordsΒ
Impressive in their pachyderm-ian progress
Wistful, gossamer, lace-ian, flighty
Reserved for the best of the poets

I, alas, pelted with the paltryΒ
Splattered with the scrabbled
Glutted with the guttered Β
I, so afflicted, am driven to poet

So I pick and choose among the rabble
Some choice four lettered peon
In an attempt to wax poetic once again
To stop the clamor, still their gnawing

Armed with these poor expletives,
Here I attempt to poet once again

I’m lost.
hate speech?
supposedly my poem was about words
lamenting the fact that I am more comfortable using the short simple words rather than the elegant flowery words.
complaining that I seemed to be chosen as a common word poet, rather than a eloquent poet
not sure where I was half witted.
perhaps I didn’t get my point across.
i respect all poets and wish I were better
sorry

Kind of you. I thought I might have missed my mark while complaining of my lot as user of the common.
thanks for explaining

Talented, I’m not sure, verbose I plead guilty.
i think I might be closer to a room full of monkeys and typewriters.
if I write enough words something may appeare”of value”
thank for noticing
