Poem -

To Retreat

Written by: Paula Perry

For many years I've stood as the Oak!
To survive evil people and their ways , no choice!
I have won many battles for myself and others!
Yet, in today's chill, I'm choosing silence..... as my voice!

In silence, I shall retreat into my Father.
This does not mean, I believe their wrong is right.
It simply is a design pronounced in my need.....
That will lead me further into The Light!

The Light where I am welcomed and warmed-
By my Lord's angels, given of him; power.
Yes, I,Β God's Warrior, am retreating this day!
This battle is not mine in this hour.

Perhaps dear, wisdom has lodged in me.
Yes, in my protective, tender heart he is found!
For my mind tells me to "Charge Forth!"
God's voice states, Retreat. Intense sound.

Yes, Sound advice from my Father!
I will let Him handle all intricate detail.
While mine enemies rejoice in their false belief.....
That they won't be going to Hell.

So, let them party in their false victory!
It is the only celebrating they will ever know!
For, one day in eternal flames, they'll look up-
They will see, in retreating, I conquered my foe!

I trusted the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!
I listened to Jesus, , my friend, my Saviour!
Therefore, in Heaven I will be rejoicing!
All because in God's eyes, I found favor!

Retreat! Retreat! Blessed be my journey.
I normally would not have, at all,Β given in.
Yet, I am weary, but wiser sweet darlings.
My stubbornness and pride, are both sin.

So, this day, this glorious, victorious day!
I let mine enemies take what they choose!
I will leave in quiet retreat.....
In such, my soul I cannot lose!

Each battle of this life, a turning point of sorts!
For years, the battleground I would Charge!
Now older and wiser, I realize the Victory......
Is in sometimes retreating; that my faith can enlarge!

Retreating into God's embrace. The battle is HIS!
He is already The Victor.
Therefore I rest......Victorious.

Ah thanks Christopher, for understanding my thoughts here. For a writer, as you know,Β it is always wonderful, and worth the pen and paper to know someone truly has understanding of the message composed. I appreciate your insight.Β You encouraged me this day!.........Though I certainly am not given to retreat often.......sometimes it is just what is needed......for us. A rest and regroup so to speak!Β God is good.Β Β Β Β Β Β  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.........Paula

Thank you. So are you Lisa! In fact, I believe you could write movie scripts! You are a unique writer, who is multi-faceted. If one could peep into your mind...it would be interesting indeed! Keep writing....and if I ever see your name, as the main writerΒ on a movie at the theater....I'm there! Hugs! Paula
