Tomorrows Past

Tomorrows Past

I pay attention to the horizon.
the most unapproachable perspective of all,
but it is there I  will  encounter my unknown.
It will be inevitable, unchangeable, unavoidable.
Our  past can  never define our future.
Yesterday is past, but the path to the future begins today.
When I reach that destination I want to be able to thank my present self.
My past was a classroom…a place where lessons were taught, some learned,
many forgotten, but the good ones remain, intact and waiting,
anxious to face a prospect unseen…
But I need to let go, release all those old regrets,
and  confront  the demons who will  seek to darken my road.
To shine a piercing light on a gleaming, endless boulevard,
where trees of knowledge line my path,
leading to an open gate of opportunity.
Will it be like moving house? do I throw out the broken, unusable bits of my life
and pack as treasures, those things  now seen as most valuable?
I tell myself I am ready to face my future and have learnt from the past.
That life is still a work in progress….but it’s ongoing
I want a future shaped by believers and not by self pitiers.
I want a vision of a better future .
One where the sun in its brightness will be my template,
unshadowed, hope renewing, casting warmth and light.
Dispelling  darkness and uncertainty, illuminating a world of  aspiration.
I pray for faith in the future.
A tomorrow  where the sun will rise,  as will  my  sanguine hopes that ……
tomorrows dawn will be my future …
and my  destiny.
