Tripe that Follows My Life

I don’t need your boy toys
and I don’t need a wet blanket.
I’ve got the words written on my tongue-
The novel in my head.
On the bus I’ve saved a seat for the mouse
and the lion. The Man driving the bus
and the Devil sitting right behind us.
We’ve got unpopular politicians sitting in
the back with the words “peace” and “war”
tattooed on their teeth.
And I don’t think I can wait for this bus anymore.
It’ll drain the life out of me and society. Cause I don’t
need these boy toys. These little kid toys.
It’s just tripe that follows my life.
Got back on the road and skipped school today.
We’re headed for the bridge, oh finally.
It’s making me dizzy with all these U -Turns.
It’s turning out to be another mindless trip.
Suzy and I aren’t friends again. She decided
to hang out with the best posers of the land.
But I stopped caring years ago. Now it’s just
me and my bucket list.
But I don’t think I can wait for this bus anymore.
It’ll drain the life out of me and society. Cause I don’t
need these boy toys and these little kid toys.
It’s just tripe that follows my life.
