True Heroes

True heroes are among us,
You just need to know where to look.

The brave men and women who dive into fires,
Risking immense pain,
To save our loved ones,
Are the true heroes.

The marathon spectators,
Who resisted the urge to flee,
To assist those in need,
Are the true heroes.

The kind people,
Who help the blind cross the street,
While others pass by,
Are the true heroes.

The courageous women,
Who stand up to their rapists,
Refusing to be violated,
Are the true heroes.

These people are not famous;
They are not millionaires.
They are just ordinary Americans,
Doing extraordinary things.
