The Truth Hurts

In my heart I feel the truth

As it turns to emotion

Pain shapes my reaction

Clear in my minds eye

I see the scene play out

From the first word

To the last look

I wield my words like a sword

Cutting in to the soft flesh of love

Torn between wrong and right

As the battle within me rages

My spirit stands guard over hope

And my soul fights onward
