TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK

They will know how to hurt their innocent prey

And what they start with others will not go away

When they look at us as the enemy

Then they will only strengthen our integrity

When we something comes from beyond the cold stare

We will understand there is more than hostility lingering there

They will make so many fall in the face of their threats

The destruction they cause to our lives, we will never forget

As a poet I am meant to learn that despite the hurt, or pain

God keeps whispering to our hearts, forgive them and start again

We can always build new memories that won't be out of order

When we step into the ring of life, we get to see the real disorder

Remember angels, we are stronger and we will make it out alive

Living in cohabitation should not have us fighting to survive

If you think it is a dog eat dog world, as so many people say

Then peace is all we can ask for when we find our quiet place to pray

When you wake up to a new day angel

Know that they can never make you weak

Because, God made us stronger than them sweet angel

We can move on, smile and turn the other cheek
