Turning Sea

I am drowning in a sea of despondecy
Today's zeitgeist is smothering me

No place to run to
No place to hide
So I just hold my breath and dive

Tempestuous yearning
The sea is turbulent
My stomach is turning
As I drift away in the current

I step back to another time
Before the stars were stolen from my sky
It was the crime of all crime
Now it's rhyme or die

The water is cold
I'm hammering my teeth
Maybe I'm just too old
To be a child underneath

The things I will never go to
Oh the things I will miss
I am turning blue as I travel into the abyss 

Deeper and deeper I do go
When will I stop?
Nobody knows

Further I dive
My ears pop
I wonder why I'm still alive

The sea weeds are like manacles 
They are choking me

Another breath would be fantastical 
If only I could breathe

Then end of the road encompasses me
No light on the other side
I can already see

That was the day I dived into the turning sea
