Under attack?

Under attack?

Don't look up
or do
You may just keep
your life

Either way
you'll make it home
as bombs fall
from the sky

The home you know
isn't far
The one you don't
is closer

The gods have mere
turned up the heat
to see if
they can roast you

Will you make it
through alive
or will you melt
like cheese

Keep up the pace
but lag behind
Eye on the sky and
hold your peace

When death takes you
will you be ready
How about if you
survive

Should you drive
walk it out
or grab
that offered ride

Its nothing
personal
only a switchback
to some factory setting

It was never about
you per se
or are you
now forgetting

Keep your eyes open
and your ears
For luck may just
lengthen your years

Should a sniper
take you out or
drone hunt you down
Lay aside all fear

If you make it
to the home you know
love
a whole lot more

But if its the
unknown you see
give thanks at
the exit door
