Under the gloom

Under the gloom
the thinkers thought
the songs were wrote
and new stories born,
under the quarantine
ideas were shared
new ways were learned
at each break of morn,
under the shadow
science went to work
to invent anew
and hearld new growth,
under the tedium
the lovers loved
the carers cared
and we thrived with both,
under the worry
we came together
to help each other
and our light did shine,
under our distance
we looked deep inside
for new ways to laugh
and to pass the time,
under the uncertainty
we learned to value
what the present did offer
a gift to embrace,
under our boredom
we gained new perspective
as all that's important
bore a new face,
under the lockdown
our heroes stood tall
although we did wonder
how they learned how to cope,
under the gloom
though so much was lost
we grew from each other
and built a new hope.
