Unfamiliar Waters

All my windows are still broken but I am standing on my feet. I tread carefully in these new waters, in this unfamiliar sea. Safe in the dark, unsure in the light. The darkness has become my home; it feels safe when I'm hidden from sight and even better when I'm alone. Eyes, windows to the soul, I keep you covered so no one can see, the confusion, the sadness, the soft part that lies within me. I step cautiously in this new unexplored land; after all there is no one here to hold my hand. Walking on well-lit, unused roads and rocky terrain, while longing for my familiar darkness to come home to again. Will I find my footing, is there something there to grasp? Is this my path, is this my way? I continue to ask. Still looking for a place to rest, where my head can lay. I search to find that small part of me that hopes for a brighter day. Looking to the heavens I see unfamiliar skies; I can't help but miss the comfort of being in the shadows and lies. Who know what shall come to pass or what will be, all I know is that in these unfamiliar waters I still need to tread carefully.

Sophia! Great write of self-introspection and the questions that have not yet attached themselves to answers. The "waters" are unfamiliar because your footing is unsure and your heart still aches for "familiar darkness" and "the comfort of being in the shadows and lies". (this is just an opinion). The flow of water represents "revelation" which represents light. Your journey will be dangerous as you can't see even though your pat is "well-lit". Well done!
