Unicorn Dreamland

Unicorn Dreamland

Inspired by Herb Ernst’s beautiful song, “Unicorn Dreamlands”
          Illustration from the 1998 movie “Nico The Unicorn”

As a youth I had a secret place, I would visit in the night;
If I was scared and feeling insecure, it would cure me of my fright!
It was sunny and very verdant, lilac aromas filled the air;
A place of only happiness, where I never had a care!
.
I called it “Unicorn Dreamland”, for that was where one lived;
He was gentle, very loving, as sweet kisses, he did me give!
Sometimes I would ride atop him, holding onto his sacred horn;
We would soar up to the Heavens, in the sunlight’s early morn!
.
Then he’d bring me back to my world, and we both would say goodbye;
And as he was departing, these words I’d hear him sigh!
“Fear not my little Soulmate, for someday you’ll be a man”;
“But till then, I’ll always be there, in your Unicorn Dreamland”!
.
.
                             In dreams of my youth
                           I found true Paradise with
                                The Unicorn’s love

"He was gentle and very loving, sweet kisses did he me give!" ... The odd syntax used here in this line didn't really work for me, Larry.
Sorry...just being honest.
Please consider:
He was gentle, very loving—as sweet kisses, he did give!
As for the rest of this piece...
beautifully well done.

Hi Dean,

It's funny, that my wife Linda wasn't all that fond of that line either.
In rereading it, I'm going to meet you half way, the last half being "as sweet kisses, he did me give".
Thank you for your astute observation.
We are heading over now to correct it.

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
