UNSUNG HERO

Nobody saw her valiantly fighting
Bravely struggling with pain for years
She just couldn't hold herself up anymore
She couldn't fight back her tears
Emotional pain, wears you down
Till you wonder if you can go on
The Candle of Hope has long been flickering
But for her loved ones, she tried to stay strong
No one had any idea
Of the war going on in her mind
They thought; How could we not have seen it?
How could we be so blind?
But she didn't want us to worry
She let us see what she wanted us to see
She never wanted to be a burden
And now her soul is free
They don't give medals of honor
For fighting a silent war
Though she fought and tried her very best
Till she couldn't take anymore
In my mind; She's an "Unsung Hero"
For the years she struggled to survive
For the effort it took to keep living
While trying to keep hope alive
