Us Stray Dogs
I glance down at the mangy mutt, with famished and parasitic gut,
And smile at my lonely kin, sojourners in a world
So unruly dim.
He growls but oh, he won't snap, for he knows I too
Was caught in the same old trap
And though mustard fangs do bear, I've developed my own purely pair,
But we are, one in the same! Both dead, grey matter
In life's black and white bored game.
But no matter our state, its all bittersweet—
Top stats and white bureaucrats... duel it out in the heat.
And the diseases we can't cause to depart,
contaminate them deep in heart.
Soft as bone and sizzling as ice—deception.
we amble out of our own device,
And the device of some who throw us scraps,
And the device of those many who widen the status quo gaps.
So here we are on this dry dusty curb,
Neither yearning for compassion, nor whimpering for a kind word,
Watching those fools stroll casually by, we wait for a diamond who dare lifts an eye.
So few can penetrate society's fogs,
to realize no kings exist, just useless pawns,
And that they too belong to the sea of us stray dogs.
Well...I'll pat his head and he'll lick my hand
For we were never meant to make a stand
And here we sit in silent dialogue
Of abandoned dreams—
Yeah...Just us stray dogs
