Vanessa Jones?

Vanessa Jones?

Superficially she shone like the morning sun
But inwardly & hid from all her friends
was the truth, It was not fun

Vanessa Jones, a farmer’s daughter
Was just turned twenty two
Her Father had newly passed away
Leaving her with lots to do

She & her two younger siblings were born & raised on a small holding
Vanessa knew her roll so well
She had suffered many a constant scolding

Since her Mother’s sudden death
Vanessa’s future was cruelly, cursed
She had to quit the job she had trained for
At St. Barthelemy’s hospice
where she was adored & nursed

As if fate hadn’t already been unkind
The day her Mother dropped on the floor
Yet poor Vanessa was heartbroken
Again death & sadness  knocked on her door

Her Aunt & Uncle from down south
Helped Vanessa with funeral arrangements
But since they’d said their goodbye’s
She was left alone feeling
isolated estrangement

At merely twenty two,
An old head on younger shoulders
Vanessa gained a considerable amount of money
She cashed her Dad’s equity in at the Shareholders

Reluctantly her ‘lock, stock & barrel’
Was immediately put up for sale
Parting with her beloved pony
Felt like the final, fatal coffin nail

Vanessa sat looking around her
As her two sister’s went to bed
They had settled in a new school
They wer’nt bad kids but we’re easily led

So Vanessa was their guardian
Until the day they turned eighteen
Then hopefully she would resume her nursing
But what lay ahead couldn’t be foreseen

She decided it was no time to dwell on her past & current situation
One day she would be rewarded
with happiness & jubilation
