Velvet Love

Thereās a ghostly girl walking in our garden
Essence of yesterday glistening on her lips
White fingers playing with her long dark hair
Heart beating in its spirit fashion
She sings her sad spectral songsĀ
Dances like a summer ingenueĀ
Blows kisses to the slinky cats of midnight
And waits for her gentle Vampire
When he comes, her smile is real
She calls him Beloved, loves him true
And keeps no secrets from him
Nightly, he brings her ghostly flowers
Wrapped in fragile braided moonbeams
Lays them at her feet while she recites her
Sad somnambulistās poetry
They spend the hours being gentle together
There with the swans, in the indigo garden
He pushes her swing so carefully
Watches her so tenderly
And wishes, oh he wishes
He could keep her for himself
He hears her
He hears her
He is so very real to her
Thereās a Vampire sitting in our garden
Falling in love with a ghostly girl
He dresses to please her, immaculate
Disillusion, he names her in whispers
She gifts him such troubled dreams
Visions that pain his heart so exquisitely
Leaving bruises he can only love
Forever, heās yearned for her
She just might be his salvation
Mistress of all his silent desires
Transparently curvaceous where
His fingers long to linger, if he could just
Touch her
He pushes her swing so carefully
He watches her so tenderly
She dances in his happiest memories
Though hers have all flown with the RavensĀ
She does not know just who she was
The one lover he never forgotĀ
She heals him
She heals him
She is so very real to him
Thereās a ghost in this inky garden
Feeding the white swans with night scented stock...
A tender Vampire yields to velvet love
While the cats of midnight watch,Ā
purring purple approval
The stars say all sorrows can wait for the Dawn
We are busy with our quiet miracles
Too soon the sun will once more paint them
With the colours of forever
Hush, light of day...it is night...
Let them beĀ
