Visions of Summer

The hot air that makes lemonade taste so sweet
and a cooling dip in the pool is such a glorious treat
days become longer and nights become hotter
sipping on sweet tea in the sparkling Carolina water
skin gets darker and hair becomes lighter
and the sun shines brighter
sounds of laughter and a happy little squeal
come from a kid playing in the water the color of brilliant teal
when you meet a summer love with hopes of making it last
and wondering how you made it without them in the past
i met my love during the sweet air of summer
and we're still together with a love so hot it simmers
without this man summer would be dull even with a sun shining bright
I will never let him go and hold him tight

Julia,
On a lonely, rainy day here in New York City- I'm a little jealous. This poem paints a beautiful picture. It's getting harder and harder to get at all the people who inspire me (you too!). Keep doin' your thing, girl!
