Voices in Solitude

Sleep – retreats
Floor’s creak
I swear I hear you speak
“Dig deep
Dig deep
Beyond where you weep”
Tears roll
Silence weighs down on my soul
Thick and heavy
I plead –
seethe
“I’m not ready for you to leave”
The walls moan
Me like the dog that lost a bone
I roam and roam
In disbelief
“How did our love end in such grief?”
Shadows grow
My fears flow
“I don’t want to let you go”
Wondering round empty rooms
This house feels like one giant tomb
Room after room
Sits a ghost of you
A memory of a life I once knew
I hear your voice as I weep
“Dig deep
Dig deep
Beyond the sadness of your grief”
But my heart clings to the pain
Where my soul vows to remain
Ever tethered to the memory of you
The only love I ever knew
The moon shines through a windowpane
Its silver hues kiss where you once lay
I seek comfort within its streams
Then ask to meet you in my dreams
“Dig deep
Dig deep
I’ll see you when you fall asleep”
The song is from one of my favourite bands Of Monsters And Men - song called Little Talks. Another band that got me through some darker moments. Thanks for reading

Music and its lyrics is one of the great healers and clearly and evidently so.
Enjoyed how you instil such great positivity to any reader and their problems by repeating Dig deep to spur them on and hold focus on their lives for a future benefit to themselves and hopefully those around them.
It reads like a mantra and a superb one at that.👌
Thanks for sharing Gwen and after reading its good to feel ten feet tall my poetic friend.😃❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
