Don't have your inner peace depend upon
What others might say
For it is within the righteousness
Of walking your own path each day
In the humble awareness
That you're doing things your own way
Where the softest pillow
Upon which your head might lay
Speaks to you of the generosity
You have imparted to others that day
And lulls you into the softest sleep
Where, what other men might say
Simply, matters not
For you have turned the nonsensical away
And that, my fair-minded friend
Is where the hidden truth,
Revealed in dreams, does lay
And true genius
Comes into play
Through a subconscious parlay
With the Universal Mind,
Manifesting as wisdom
Along your own path's,
Constitutional,
Each day...

The above-quoted lines are the very heart (in every metaphorical sense of the word) of this poem. The whole piece radiates with a generosity of spirit which screams Tony Taylor.
The masterstroke, however, is the rolling, dominant rhyme of '--ay' words; these open each couplet and give the poem a carefree momentum which drives the reader to the very end with a smile on her face.
If this is a "work in progress"...I can't wait to see the final draft.

Walking my own path despite what others think is something I struggle with a lot. It is nice to know that there is people out there who aren't all of the follow-the-crowd type. Sometimes I don't see it.
