Here and now
the moment calls
around me peace
chatter, laughter,
blissful scene,
yet the mind can only wander.
Jokes are shared
stories told
memories
old and new,
I kindly smile,
yet the mind starts to wander.
Eat, drink
be merry now
the party 
has just started,
face of joy,
yet the mind does wander.
Room of love
vision and hope
possibility
so aplenty,
optimism talks
yet the mind can wander.
The light around
the dark within
somewhere
many have been,
yet now empathy lost
as the mind starts to wander.
