War is Never Over

Men of all ages go to service, to fight for our rights, in strength and in fear
Many women, even children, cry out in agony of bloodshed and death
Tears of sadness in a mass of mourning listeners afar bow in prayer
Lost battles for greed, money and land taken, not in pride
Some wars won, but memories of death and defeat not forgotten
Bullets sound out along with the cannon balls that blacken the sky
Military uniforms and medals of Honor worn courageously in stride
For war anywhere is never over until it's time
Time for peace and harmony, understanding, trust, living in a world with gratitude and respect
Our country has many wounds, some healed and some still painfully open
The nation we have fought for, filled cemeteries of our beloved chosen
While our veterans should be admired for doing what no one man could do alone
A long list of heroes in rank of every branch of those names engraved in monuments you will see
God Bless our veterans for the war is never over, it lives in our minds to be free
Their spirits live on through millions of miles of earth and ashes and dust
As we pledge allegiance to our American Flag for its presence today as it waves of the past, and a country true.
