We Don't Have The Energy

We  Don't  Have  The  Energy

Not like the old days, prefer to stay around and laze,
we've moved on, reluctantly, entered a new phase;
remember when we used to make love all night,
now we think twice about turning on the light.

Winter is coming, perhaps we should live in the sun,
we used to, all those times we had so much fun;
someone once said to me that 'we live like lords,'
transient, it's only time before life gives what affords.

Now, those lords were not where you are mon ami,
they were all with me, laughing aloud, distantly;
I had no 'side,' I'm still the same using gas and elec,,
maybe reduced, just camping out on a smaller deck.

What's to come? Who knows - poetry I will still write,
until, 'Where's the power gone, who turned off the light?'
