We Forgot The Devil

We Forgot The Devil

Of course, he could sprinkle a few bugs around anytime,
but he didn't, just watched while we scurry around like ants,
as though someone sprinkled poison into our nest,
with nowhere to go, must be disappointed it wasn't him.

We don't need him, to shoot ourselves in the foot,
perhaps it's good, maybe knife crime won't return,
maybe we won't have people breathing down our neck anymore,
suddenly working at home accelerated, I'm not going back.

Sometimes we need an excuse to get out of the house,
we'll find one, whatever it takes, roll on freedom again;
Mr. Xi doesn't like democracy, his sprinkling's finished,
should resign himself to fate, we can no longer wait.

So with the devil gone, we're all going to get along,
we might recall him sometime, to remember We do things wrong.
