We The People

You the people
Where's your voice?
You the people
Have a choice,
You the people
Say out loud
You the people
In the crowd,

It's time for all
To say their peace
To stop the wars
The killing cease,
To keep the families
Close at hand
When they escape
Their war torn land,

How we open up our doors
With legal rights supressed
We need to help the immigrants
Their problems we address
We need the tarriffs double checked
Address the big demands
And work together side by side
Respecting all commands,

Yes, we the people
Have a voice
Yes, we the people
Have a choice
And we the people
Say out loud
To all the people
In the crowd,

Let's work together
Hand in hand
To fix our problems
In our land
And then reach out
To all mankind
For the good of all
We have to find

On the base of the Statue of Liberty there is a poem titled, "The New Colossus", by Emma Lazarus embedded on a brass plate.
What ever happened to the values expressed therein?

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
