Weary Rover

Weary Rover

How fare you weary rover?
How goes it by gone tramp?
Who so much as drowned with every bridled lover,
But seldom emerged too damp.
You're searching for what now, sojourner?
Something so fleeting to obtain
You're slowing down, you've lost that fervor,
Laid hopeless by the glitter, and the cheap...and the vain.

Tired are you already?
And yet you've just begun,
Desperate to fill that inward hollow,
That's left you void and numb.
But every coy glance,
Assures you of content in store,
it comes in heat waves and flees,
And leaves you more barren than before.

So how dare I ask wayward rover
When like everyone in the whole,
I know all to well how you art.
Searching for love that won't satisfy your soul,
And waring with a depraved heart.
